Childbirth Connection is a national not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of maternity care through research, education, advocacy and policy. They promote safe, effective and satisfying evidence-based maternity care and are a voice for the needs and interests of childbearing families.

The Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) is a coalition of individuals and national organizations with concern for the care and well-being of mothers, babies, and families. They are the authors of The Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative.
Dr. Sarah Buckley
Dr. Buckley is a GP/Family Physician trained in OB and family planning. Her work critiques current practices in pregnancy, birth, and parenting from the widest possible perspectives, including scientific, anthropological, cross-cultural, psychological, and personal. She is the author of Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering and Ecstatic Birth.
Henci Goer
Henci is an award-winning author and internationally known speaker on the topic of childbirth. She is the author of The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth. Her website is filled with informative articles on the politics of childbirth, induction, VBAC and much more.
Lamaze International
Lamaze is a nonprofit organization that promotes a natural, healthy and safe approach to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. Knowing that pregnancy and childbirth can be demanding on a woman’s body and mind, Lamaze serves as a resource for information about what to expect and what choices are available during the childbearing years. They have established the evidence-based six Heathy Birth Practices.
